TMC: What was it about being an artist that made you pursue it?
AJ: I realized that it was my purpose at an early age and that this was something that I would always want to do.

TMC: Tell us some people before you, that inspire you when it comes to music?
AJ: Michael Jackson, Prince, Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, Bob Marley and Sting to name a few.

TMC: There are a lot of R&B artists out there, what do you think sets you apart?
AJ: I don't like to be categorized as an R&B artist becauseI write and produce many forms of music, but to answer your question I think what sets me apart is the fact that I really like to express myself through my lyrics and melodies in a way that brings out emotions that everybody can feel.

TMC: What has been the best advice given to you since in the industry?
AJ: Live in the moment, be free and Enjoy The Ride

TMC: What can you say has been the biggest challenge while doing music?

AJ: To take over the world :-)

Twenty-three year old Alex Jacke has a voice and a face the music industry cannot ignore.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, the singer and songwriter realized his passion for music as a child when he fell in love with 90's R&B and Hip Hop. Self taught on the play piano, Jacke began composing songs in middle school. By the time he started his freshman year at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, he knew the mic and the stage were his future and Jacke focused his energy on songwriting, & performing at school events and venues around Atlanta. During his sophomore year, he appeared on the highly popular MTV series "My Super Sweet 16," as the special guest performer for DJ Spinderella and former NBA player, Kenny Anderson's daughter, Christy. His charismatic performance caught the attention of music executive and producer, Laney Stewart, who invited Jacke to work with him over the summer. Jacke jumped at the opportunity to pursue his dream, and left Morehouse at the end of his junior year to return to Los Angeles.

Like others before him, most notable Christopher “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, Laney Stewart took Alex Jacke under his wing which led Jacke to land a worldwide publishing deal with Music Gallery/Universal Music Publishing Group in 2011.  Along with Stewart and his production team the SharpShootaz, Alex Jacke has spent the last year perfecting his debut, a free EP/ mix-tape, DFM (Dorm Fucking Music) released for download July 9, 2012. According to Jacke DFM is “just the beginning of the journey I want to take people on with me”. Still, DFM delivers it all; hot beats, sensual melodies, and insightful lyrics that tell the stories of Jacke’s college years.
